Please remember to send a plastic bowl, cup and spoon with your child for tomorrow's Meagre Lunch.

Most of the class did not hand in the Volume from Nets assignment today. Students can hand it in Monday, but if it is later than that they will have to spend time at recess and lunch to complete it. A number of students did not hand in their Problem of the Week, either.

I would appreciate your help in reminding your child to complete assignments on time.

21 March 2007

Wonderful Wednesday - March 21

LA - Congratulations, Grade 5 students! You did a super job with the Reader's Theatre and Choral Speech performance today.

Book report due Monday, March 26.

Math - Volume from Nets due tomorrow. Problem of the Week due tomorrow. Also, pages 174 and 175 (solving problems using mass) due tomorrow. (I know this sounds like a lot, but the Volume from Nets assignment was given out a week ago, and Problem of the Week was given out Monday. Most students who used their time well in class are also finished the assigned pages).

20 March 2007

Tuesday, March 20

Language Arts - we will be performing tomorrow for the Grade 1 and 2 classes. Please take a few minutes this evening to practise your script and the poems for choral reading. Remember to think about volume, the audience, appropriate gestures, and your facial expressions and speaking expressively!

The book report is due next Monday, March 26.

Math - Volume from Nets project is due this Thursday, March 22. Problem of the week is also due Thursday.

16 March 2007

Friday, March 16

Language Arts - I am excited that the Grade 2 class will be able to join us for our performance on Wednesday! Students need to learn their poems this weekend, as next week we will be focussing on fine-tuning the performance itself.

Math - pages 148 - 152 for Monday.

15 March 2007

Thursday, March 15 - "The Ides of March"

Language Arts - students will be performing their Reader's Theatre for the class on Monday next week. Our performance for the Grade One class is on Wednesday, so students need to be sure they have learned the poems and are very comfortable with their Reader's Theatre scripts. 5 students have not yet handed in their Poetry Portfolios; starting tomorrow, anyone with overdue portfolios will be staying in at recess to work on them.

Math - 12 students did not have their Problem of the Week ready to hand in today. The Problem of the Week gives students valuable practise in the math skills we have recently covered, so it is very important that students do the work! These students will also be staying in at recess if their Problem of the Week is not handed in first thing tomorrow.

Pages 148 - 152 are due Monday.

14 March 2007

Wednesday, March 14

Language Arts - students need to work on learning "Homework, Oh Homework" and "Rat for Lunch" for our performance next week.

Math - Problem of the Week due tomorrow. Also, page 122 due tomorrow.

13 March 2007

Tuesday, March 13, 2007

Language Arts - The Poetry Portfolios are due tomorrow. No class time to work on the portfolio tomorrow, so anything that students have not completed is homework.

Math - A large number of students did not complete the homework assigned for the weekend! Please make sure your child finishes his or her homework. Students need to practise new concepts as they learn them, and if they don't finish in class and don't do their homework either they will fall behind! I will keep students in at recess to finish homework if needed, but it would be better for both of us if they did homework at home.

Pages 117, 118, 119, and 120 are due for tomorrow.
